The Scottish Dermatological Nursing Society (SDNS) was established to offer a Speciality group for nurses and health care professionals with an interest in Dermatology. The society is affiliated to the British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) and the Scottish Dermatological Society (SDS)

The SDNS conference on 4th May 2017, was attended by 42 delegates and supported by 18 pharmaceutical companies. The keynote speaker, Heuwlen Wyatt CNS in Paediatric Dermatology, presented a heart wrenching and thought provoking talk on Skin Disease that Mimics Child Abuse.(Due to the sensitive content this presentation will not be available to view in the members section).                                                                                                                                             Sheila Ryan, Secretary of the Irish Dermatology Nurses Association (IDNA), gave an update on IDNA and ISNG. We hope to strengthen links with our Irish Colleagues with possible joint meetings.  Three short topics on Health Psychology (Polly Buchanan), satellite phototherapy units (Linda Malcolm) and self administration of phototherapy, set up in the ward area at Ninewells Hospital  (Celia Sprot).  Amanda Degabriele, McMillan Skin Cancer specialist nurse, gave a talk on Pigmented Lesion, highlighting some of the difficulties faced in diagnosis due to the similarity of lesions on presentation. There were three workshops in the afternoon. Barbara Page gave a workshop on Emollients and Topical Steroids while Karen Stephen lifted the mystery of doing a PASI.                                                                                                                                               The day came to a close with our final, very entertaining and informative workshop on Putting a Successful Business Case Together.

Many thanks to all our speakers and pharmaceutical sponsors.
